Several Schools in Final for National Music Contest

Every year, tens of thousands of students in music classes from across Canada sign up for the . This year, several Burnaby Schools were selected as finalists when they made the list of 鈥渘ational top tens:鈥

CATEGORY: PRIMARY INSTRUMENTAL (Grades K-3)
GLENWOOD ELEMENTARYSandwiches

CATEGORY: ELEMENTARY VOCAL (Grades 4-6)
ARMSTRONG ELEMENTARY – “Sandwiches”
SECOND STREET COMMUNITY SCHOOL – “Knocking at the Door”

CATEGORY: ELEMENTARY INSTRUMENTAL (Grades 4-6):
CAPITOL HILL ELEMENTARY – “On My Own”

CATEGORY: JUNIOR INSTRUMENTAL (Grades 7-10)
SECOND STREET COMMUNITY SCHOOL – “Knocking at the Door”

CATEGORY: JUNIOR VOCAL (Grades 7-10)
SECOND STREET COMMUNITY SCHOOL – “Salvation”
BURNABY SOUTH SECONDARY – “Wonder”

In 2019, the Burnaby School District鈥檚 very own Sound Wave Handbell Choir took top spot in their category.

This year鈥檚 winners will be announced December 14 with first place receiving $3,000 in new musical instruments, along with bragging rights and a plaque.
